Projects that JLO is currently assisting:
> THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSES
JLO began an outreach for the RMH in December of 2008 and we are going to make it an annual outreach. Last year we supplied 31 oversized Christmas stockings filled with all kinds of goodies (food, hygeine items, house care items, kids items, etc). Each family staying at the RMH received a stocking on Christmas Eve. We will continue this tradition and we plan on including both RMH's in Colorado. We do take donations for this outreach in the form of money or goods. If you are donating goods, we do ask that you give enough where each family will receive the item. We make all gifts the same for each family.
We also will begin extending our hands to the RMH's throughout the year, donating toys, home made goodies, etc. for them to distribute to their families. Their service is a blessing to so many people who have family members at local area hospitals. It gives the parents and family members the opportunity to focus on their loved ones instead of paying a hotel bill or finding a place to clean their dirty laundry. We want to help this organization reach out to these families and are excited to be able to provide them with things that can bring a smile to their faces.
The Ronald McDonald House of Denver houses up to 31 families at a time and the Ronald McDonald House of Aurora houses up to 45 families at a time.
> SCHOOL SUPPLY RECYCLE ...
JLO collects the school supplies from elementary schools at the end of year - when they usually clean out their classrooms and throw all the supplies away. We will distribute these to a couple different places: First, we will donate a large portion of these to HANDS OF FRIENDSHIP, who then hand delivers the supplies to schools in the villages of Haiti. We will also be donating supplies to day care centers that are run out of homes - where assistance is a little harder to come by.
> THE KING'S DAUGHTER
The King's Daughter is a local outreach of Prevailing Word Ministries whose mission is simply 'Celebrating Women'. This ministry is unique as it reaches out to women in every walk of life; business women, stay at home moms, single, married, rich, not so rich - TKD sees every woman as special and their goal is to assist women in living the abundant life that God has created for them. JLO donates finances throughout the year to go towards their King's Daughter fund where they honor women locally and nationally by blessing them with gift cards, financial support, new clothing, etc. - each gift distinct for each personal situation. Recipients of these gifts are usually nominated by friends or family. If you are interested in giving a monetary donation that will be given to The King's Daughter, please mark your giving 'The King's Daughter' so the funds will be appropriated correctly.
> OPERATION IRAQI CHILDREN
Co-founded by Hollywood actor, Gary Sinise, this organization ships school supplies to schools throughout Iraq where supplies are limited and sometimes, non-existent. They also ship blankets and shoes for the cold seasons where heaters are not available. U.S. Soldiers distribute these supplies to the recipients.
